PKZIP for DOS is a high performance, full-featured, standard-setting file compression program.
Features of PKZIP include: compact, high-speed file compression using a "deflation" algorithm; support for Windows 9x long file names; the ability to "span" a large compressed file across multiple diskettes (with on-the-fly destination diskette formatting); password encryption; authenticity verification; optional zip file and file comments; the ability to store/rebuild directory structures; and more.
This download includes PKZIP for creating ZIP files, PKUNZIP for extracting files from ZIP files, PKSFX for creating self-extracting EXE ZIP files and PKZIPFix for fixing ZIP files.
This latest release provides full support for Windows 9x long file names. The file storage limitation has been increased -- from 5,000 to over 16,000 files stored in a single ZIP archive. It is now fully Y2K compliant, and it can run in DPMI (DOS Protected Mode Interface) for faster performance under Windows.
